I love my 1993 dakota. I decide to upgrade the radio with an aftermarket deck but have had lots of problems gettin the steroe to turn on. I have the Pink wire hooked up to the consant wire and the red/w wire hooked up to the according wire on the harness. I also have wired the orange dimmer wire to the coresponding wire. When i try to turn on the deck nothing happens. When i turn on the dimmer the lights come on in the deck. I have connected the ground wires and get nothing. To what i have heard the ground wire is black/y in my dakota. I have also lost power to my dome light and my dimmer switch does not work all the time. I can also connect my panel light wire on the new harness to the black/y ground wire and get the same effect as connecting it to the orange dimmer wire. and last, i can connect the ground wires and turn on the dimmer switch and i get power to my dome light. Please help!!! Dakotas rock!!!

You need to disconnect the black/yellow wire. It is not a ground, it's the illumination circuit. Ground the new radio to bare metal under the dash or in the kick panel. I'm not sure why you get no sound from the new radio, unless it is damaged internally. You need to correct the wiring and check for shorted speaker leads, and/or have the radio bench tested to see if the problem is the radio or the truck wiring.

Three blown fuses were the culprits. After i got them replace everything worked fine. Thanks for the help.!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have a 2002 dodge dakota. Radio volume cannot be turned up, then volume distorts then radio beeps and "T" for tuner comes on and off with the beeps. I have changed at least 5 ignition switches, one worked for 7 monthes some for 2 monthes.... Any suggestions?
