Subject: My amps shot... advice on new one.

Hi all. For about 3 years I have run an MTX Thnder 2150x amp with my 2 12s. The thing hits hard as crap. Well it did. A few weeks ago it started given me strange bleeps. All regular speakers worked, but the subs did nothing but these strange very loud tones. Spaced out about 15-20 secs.
Took it to a local guy to test it. Said it was shot. The power wires he used were actually hot! But another guy told me that I might want to have it fixed by MTX rather than buya new one. Simply cuz it has been known to be a good amp. What do you think???

Ahould I referb it, or get a new amp? Im on a real tight budget now. My construction job has almost gone to nil. I am thinking about going with a US Acoustics amp that runs 280Wx1. Not as much as the previous 450x1 mtx.. Any suggestions is good...
Thanks
Joe E.

send it back to MTX and get a QUOTE to have it fixed. if its cheap, then have it fixed. if its too much for your liking, dont have them fix it.
all you have to pay is shipping.

it happened to me with my kenwood X401M. i had a water bottle from a golf bag explode from heat, and it leaked on the amp. i sent it to kenwood. they quoted me and insane amount. everything was shot. i told them to keep it. lol

Open it up and look for burnt parts. If there are, replace them and if you are lucky it might work. If no visible parts are broken, it's a crap shoot unless you have some good test equipment.
