Subject: My amp shuts off!
IP: Logged

Message:
I have an MA audio 15 inch sub powered by a lanzar 300 watt amp. I relize the fact that i should have more power going to the sub but still doesnt explain why it constantly shuts off. When the volume is up higher and at points where the bass is lower it shuts it self off and then after a little comes back on then shut off again. Does anyone know what i could do to solve this?

check your ohm load coming from the sub. it might be too low for the amp so it shuts itself off so you dont blow it. your amp is trying to tell you something. check it out. if it doesnt work let me know. i work at a stereo shop. im around this kind of stuff all day. later.

sounds like the amp has a tempature shut off on it
do you have the amp mounted under a seat? is there really any room to cool it off?
feel how hot the amp is next time it shuts off on you. be careful i have felt amps that were over 200 degrees. very hot

Is the power and ground wire of decent size? It should atleast 8 gauge. That could be it... or like others suggested: ohm load or temp related. If it does it right away that rules out the temp problem, so I'd bet too low of an ohm load for sure then.
