I just bought 4 6 1/2 Percision Audio speakers and they rock. The only problem is when I totally blare my system they distort a little. I think I am going to go buy a rocksford fosgate 4 channel amp and hook them up. Is this the way I should go if I want a louder nondistorted sound system?

yes, buy the amp...it will be louder, crisper, less distorted, and better sound quality than running speakers off your head unit.
