http://www.geocities.com/dropt_98_dakota/more3.html here is a link to a couple pics of my sub install in my 98 sport CC and the sony xplode deck with it face open and closed. The subs are 4 12" AVI es-300, made in canada. Powering the subs is 1 crossfire 602 amp. I am still using the stock infinity mids & tweets. At the last sound-off I hit 143.6 db

Hey mjh,

I still have my amp under the driver seat, it fits perfect. No problems with overheating.
The Kenwood amp is providing 75 watts rms to each sub, which for me is plenty.

Hey, just wondering how those subs sound because there is not really that much air volume in the cab of the truck. Does your system sound better if the doors and the rear windows are open. I have two Rockford Fosgate 10's in the back of mine in a custom box that is almost exact in volume required for these speakers and my truck tends to sound better with the doors open and the rear windows open. I have two amps under my front seats and a RF capacitor mounted on the floor behind the driver seat. Pioneer head unit (I need to put a better head unit in it. Mine is about 4 years old and was a decent quality when I bought it but now there are so many better hu's out there now that it would be a waste of enjoyment without a new one). Eclipse 2ways all the way around-- soon to be components in front and maybe just some mids in the rear. Speakers are old and are not loud enough. I like my music to sound very clean and loud so I will shopping for some new speakers. Anyone know of any good web sites to buy from b/c I have not found a store that I like here in Houston. I have checked out buyloud.com and they seem to have pretty good prices. Any suggestions.

Hello fellow Houston resident-

Have you been by car toys (cartoys.com) they have a lot of high end stuff you can listen to and then later purchase on the web.

Where do you live in Houston?

Hey RAM98, are you talking about my setup?

I stuffed the enclosure with the material inside a pillow, this stuff works great. By stuffing a sealed box it tricks the sub into thinking that it's playing in a bigger box. Which in turn slows down the sound waves and make stronger/better bass notes.

I notice no difference with the windows up or down, same goes for the doors.

Hey R/Truck, I live right outside 610 at I-10 And Silber. There is an Edwards Cinema right down the street from my house. Where do you live? I have not been too cartoys yet. I was thinking of going to the one on voss rd. I was not sure if they had higher end stuff there. Mobile One is ok but their best components there are Boston Pros and I was really thinking about getting some MB Quartz. Hey Anthony, I was wondering if that really worked or not on bigger subs. I have seen that in the old boxes for home stereos, but they were stuffed with fiberglass. How much is needed? Do you just fill it half-way or all the way. I know that you are suppose to leave it loose and not stuff as much as possible in the box.

Ram98-

I live in The Woodlands (way up north) and please go visit car toys. They have MB Quart, JL Audio, B A, Alpine, Rockford, and all the other big brands. They even have the Q series of MB Quarts there.

You can get that "stuffing" at Wal-mart in the material department, real cheap. It works in all types of enclosures and usuelly 50% fill will do the trick.

Hey R/Truck;

I checked out the car toys web site and I am really interested in the MB Quartz PSC 216 components. They say they are 499.99 on car toys. This seems like a fair price, but I was checking out the www.buyloud.com web site and they have the exact same setup for 319.00. Have you or anyone else bought from them and if so are they good. They seem to have the lowest prices but am still debating on buying from them. If I had the Money I would buy the Q series but they just don't fit into my pocket book. Has anyone install the 3-way component system in a dakota and if so where did you locate the third speaker. Also where is a good location for the tweeter. I was thinking of either in the door panel or on the front post( but installation would not be easy). Since I have the power mirriors They can not be install there like on most cars or shall I say fords because they tend to put a speaker there in most of their cars.

I have the JL Audio 3-ways in my truck. The mid and tweeter are in custom kick panels and the mid-bass is in the door.

mmxpress.com has the psc-216 for $279.00

I have bought stuff from them before and they are fine. Check it out.
