I'm in the middle of doing the sound on my 2000 Quad. My last truck (99 club) was great so I can't go backwards. I see all kinds of questions regarding speaker locations (esp. Subs) so I thought I'd put in my two cents.

First off, use high quality speakers. I am going with Focal. No one probably recognizes them but hey are a high end unit from France. But listen to lots because everyones ear is different. And listen to them with YOUR music.

Up front I have 6.5 component speakers in the doors. The doors are heavily Dynamated to deaden the door and keep the music in the truck. I have had the "A" panels remolded to hold the tweeters. The tweeters are aimed at the windshield so they reflect back into the cabin. You can go with three piece components and kick panels to do the delux but the cost ges obscene. I found, for the money I can get better components if I use the two instead of the three and the sound is pretty nice. (Law of diminished returns)

Subs is the tricky part. I didn't want to lose the folding action of the back seats or the floor space so I had the door panels remolded to fut the subs. Now the door has to be reenforced and matted to make is more solid and the subs will stick out anywhere from 3 to 4 inches but they won't be in the way.

I love quality sound over loud sound so it works great for me. There is more than enough bass response for most. Some of you kids may not think so but like I said everyones ear is different.

Go to a quality shop that can to the remolding work. Mine looks stock and sounds incredible.
