I also have a 1992 Dodge Dakota 318 and I want to put 2-3in. body lift on it. I can't find it on any Internet sites and on any magazines. I am going to my nearest 4x4 dealer so they can make one for me.

Read through some of the older posts about 91-96 Dakota Lifts. All of the information you require has been covered a number of times before.

I put a Performance Accessories 2" body lift from 4 Wheel Parts Wholesalers on my 1995 Ext Cab 4x4. Lifting the body I did in an afternoon. Adjusting the bumpers so it didn't look like had just slapped a body lift on took the whole Saturday. It was well worth it. The install includes cutting out the bottom of the fan shroud and tweeking the tranny lines at the radiator if you have auto. The kit comes with a lengthening rod for the auto shift linkage. I chose to take some of the dog leg out of mine and file off a portion of the keeper at the bottom since I wasn't close to a welder. My indicator is off on the dash just a smidge, but is close enough that my wife has no problem driving it. My transfer case shifter hit the plastic console so I adjusted the throw. It would pop out of 4-hi & 4-lo so I lengthened the shifter arm by using a bolt of the same thread, cut the head off and welded four nuts together to use them as a connecting sleeve. It sounds cheezy, but the shifter knob covers it all up and it DOES work fine. I did this over a year ago and have had no problems.
NOW, what they don't tell you in the inst:
1. The brake proportioning valve bracket located on the drivers fender well will probably have to be tweeked(mine did).
2. The hole in the frame that the spare tire lowering tube goes through must be enlarged!! If not, you will never get your spare down when you need it. Luckily I was at home.

From someone who's been there.

I have a 1992 dodge dakota 318 V8, 2 wheel drive.

I Bought a trailmaster 3inch body lift for my truck.I had to lower the radiator down 3 inches,
but to do that you have to cut the body under the
radiator and weld it back on,but with some steel
so that it will mount it 3 inches lower.
Then the bumpers you will have to fab those in.
It is easily a 1-2 day job.

I also bought the 2 inch suspension lift,
which is nothing more than spring spacers.
But you need a spring compressor, but the
one i bought was too big.
So we had to fapricate our own.
Also now the front suspension is to stiff
to absorb small bumps.
1 day job.

I'm no mechanic, and am in no position to attempt a self-installation of the 2" rought country suspension lift your talking about. I have a 1996 Ext Cab 2wd. My local 4x4 shop wants $250-for the shocks and front coil spacers and $100 for the rear add-a-leafs. For a grand total of $350-does this sound reasonable? And if not, should I ask some buddys for help and look into doing it in my garage? Thanks

Now is the $350 include the shop to install it?
What kind of shocks are we talking about?

Since I have installed the rough country suspension lift, I have bought some Bilstein
shocks for my truck and it rides way smoother!

I would have a mechanic take it on.
They will have to lower the radiator
and raise the bumpers.

Im not really sure how much someone would
charge you to put on the kit.
What We had to do was cut the bar
underneath the radiator so we could mount it
down 3 inches so that the fan would clear the
lower radiator hose.
Also we had to drill new holes in the frame
and the bumper brackets to mount the bumpers
3 inches taller.

Just talk to an offroad shop about it
and see were you get.

Why not replace the stock fan with an electric unit and leave the raditor where it is?

IF you buy an electric fan to replace the
stock fan you would not have to move the
radiator.
I did not have any extra cash at the time
we did the body lift, or I would have gone
with an electric fan setup which can gain
10-15 horsepower.
