I was wondering if anyone could help me with this? I bought a 2000quad cab back in june with just about everything in it except the power overhead console. I asked the parts depatment where I bought my truck if it was possible to get the parts and install it. Of coarse the answer I got back was, "If you get the part #'s, i'll order it, besides it will be expensive, so I don't think you'll want to do it". Well I DO want to have the power overhead console!
I guess the question I have for you guys is if someone could get me the part numbers of all the parts I need and a list of parts. I think all I am going to need is the led display and a wiring harness to connect it somewheres, thats another thing, where?
Any help is much apreciated.

Russ,
Thanks, but I was one of those guys! Apparently he was doing the samething and he said he had one from an earlier model dak and that the led display was shapped diferently. Thats why he was getting rid of it. I believe he said the newer models were more square and would not fit.

Thanx anyways,
Kevin

I am the guy that bought it from larry, But it didnt fit my 99' so i sent it back. The harness is also different. I dont have the deluxe overhead, And i dont have the harness for it either. The wiring is different. You may want to check and make sure that your Dak has the harness for the deluxe overhead.

No, I don't have the harness either. Thats one of the things I need the part # for. I already looked to see if they put the harness there but they didn't.

Did you say that the dealer wont give you the part#??? If so go to another dealer, That is what they are there for. They get paid to sell Parts. Call them again and ask for the #'s. If they cant help tell them good bye and call someone else.

I recently purchased a 2003 quad cab. It’s fully loaded but didn’t come with the elusive overhead computer. After reading most of the postings. I was able to obtain an overhead computer on Ebay. I’m interested in hardwiring the overhead computer. The only option in the computer that I am interested in is the compass and outside temperature sensor. The computer I have has four wires attached to it. I know that one wire is the constant power, the second is ground and the third is the ignition power. I’m not sure what the forth is I’m assuming it the Outside temp reading. I got the compass to work but cant figure out how to get the outside temp to work. My truck came with a senor for outside temp. The senor has two wire going into it. How can I hardwire my over head computer so that my outside temp works. Also does anybody know what PCI bus stands for, and were can I find it in my truck. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

My '04 Quad Cab came loaded with just about everything (including leather) except the overhead console. Recently, I was able to buy one and now I need to install it or have it installed. Anyone having information about installing it (or a recommendation on who could install it for me) and what other parts I need to buy, please contact me. My e-mail address is: jwalsh@hdp.com. Thank you.

Dakotaowner01, Thanks for your quick reply. I have the console already. I need to know how to install it. My truck has the little 2 light overhead unit that I want to replace with the new console I bought on e-Bay. Can you tell me how you wired the homelink, temperature gauge and compass? Was it difficult?

Mikey,

Thanks. I think I will ask my dealer if he can install the unit. If he can't or won't I may also try a small locally owned accessories shop. Thanks.

Joe.

I did mine myself for free.

The puter cost $80, new, from a guy off this site.

I've repeated the steps before, I'm at work and don't have time, look for one of my posts on the subject in the archives.

If you pay for to have it installed, you're paying for little of nothing.

Thanks Texas Todd. I'll look for your prior listings on the topic. I bought the entire overhead console off e-Bay from a wrecked quad cab. What "puter" did you buy? Are we talking about the same thing?

Joe.

I'm talking about the overhead computer.

Mine's an 01 Quad, and the o/h puter came from the same, only new in the box.

MoJoe, I think you said you had an 04. I think they changed the wiring some, but the principle should be the same.

Just remember, on my 01, one wire-called the PCI bus, carries all the info form all the sensors digitally. It's really pretty cool, that one wire could do so much. Basically the whole truck, if on any kind of sensor, uses this one wire.
