I use Bosch Plats, they claim 100,000 miles and I got 25,000 out of them with a MSD ignition which puts out 4 sparks for every one combustion which is 4 times the load without it. 25,000 X 4 = 100,000 just as they claim. I never had a problem with them but I have heard of people dont like them. I will suggest staying away from splitfires though, just a personal recommendation.

Be careful with the Platinums. Jacobs, Mallory, and MSD all do NOT recommend Platinum Plugs with their ignition systems. (Has to do with the platinum actually flaking off...not good.)

Stick with the Autolite 3923's...they're a standard tip and one heat range colder. (Actually showed a 4-5HP increase on several Dyno sheets...just the plug...nothing else touched.)

The factory replacement equivalent is an Autolite 5224 but the projected "Special Power Tip" plugs are known for pinging.

Bosch platinums are slightly different than most platinums. I cant imagine the platinum flaking off becase they arent just a bead of platinum droped on the tips of the electrodes, they actually have the electrode made of platinum surrounded by ceramic. Still, like I said, I have heard some who dont like them. I guess this makes one more. haha. How long do you get those Autolite 3923's to last. I cant deal with having to do a tune up every other oil change. Also I'm due for a new cap/rotor. What would you recommend. Brass I assume but what brand is good?

If anyone has the new 4.7L engine do not use the
platnium plugs. I tried the Bosch platnium +4's
and all i got was decreased gas mileage and a
weird idle with them. I swtiched to autolite 5224
and the idle came back to normal. So i think the
coils can't handle them!!! just to let you know!!!

Mark,

The 3923's last me about 7500-10K miles but I change them at every 7500 miles since the Cap and Rotor wear out at that point (MSD does that...stock ignition will last much longer).

Borg Warner makes the Brass Contact Cap/Rotor...PepBoys, Autozone, Napa...they all carry them.

i recommend using NGK plugs for the 3.9 V6 engine.
You will get a little of an erratic idle but the dyno test showed a 6-7 hp increase from using an import plug.

Where's the dyno sheet?

Here's one of the sheets for the Autolite vs. Champion:
