Subject: 2WD Lift Kit - Fabtech
IP: Logged

Message:

Duplicate posting from the Offroad Section of this board:

Fabtech has their 2" and 3" Suspensions available up to the 2000 models now:

http://www.fabtechmotorsports.com/appguide/apps_susp/apps_dodge/apps_dakota.html

** No coil spacers...real lift coils. **

Excellent suspension...I've been running mine for almost two year without any problems.

How much does the fabtech 3" cost on average? How about with installation?
I'm wondering if I need to get new rims if I decide to go with some 31/32" BFG KOs. I have a 2000 cc with, I think, incompatible rims in regards to the...damn what was that you mentioned Berd? back spacing?

Cheers!

From what Bernd told me you don't want any more than 3.75 backspacing for the rims....find out from him to be sure though.

Yup...get new rims. I found that out the hard way on a late Friday night...had to make a quick drive to San Antonio to pick up four new rims.

No more than 3.75" backspacing. The factory rims are 5-5.5".

3" Body Lift doesn't require different rims. The reason for the rims is due to the control arms that come with the kit.

The kit comes without rims/tires. (Ya lost me on that one)

As for the price, check with Summit Racing. It's about $750 from them.

Bernd...So you can't use the stock 15.8 inch wheels that come on slt's and durangos. Or if you did use these couldn't you put in spacers up front??? Just wondering
Thanks
Brian

No, you can't use the factory 15x8" rims...I had those on mine (SLT). You'd have to use a 2" spacer...that's just asking for problems. Get the rims instead.

Considering that the backspacing wilol move the wheels more towards the outside of the fenderwells, you'll have less of a problem with running on the frame.

Any 15x8 rim with a backspacing of no more than 3.75".

I'm running 32x11.5x15 on my truck with the American Eagle rims.

Voiding the warranty....ummmmm....yes. On the upper control arms, upper ball joints, front shocks, and rear leaf springs and shocks as well. Why? Because they're replaced with the Fabtech kit.

Don't know about the 2001 yet...I think someone had posted something about the brake porportioning valve being an issue for the new models. (Could be mistaken though.)
