Chris I mounted mine in the bed, made a mounting bracket for the floor.I did the same for my Ranger.I never liked the idea of having to get a dirty grimy rusty old rim and tire in the rain or snow from the bottom of my truck at night.I didn't take any parts of from the under side, so I could put it back under side and haul stuff if I wanted to.You will have room for twice pipes.

Is the bracket removable??I thought about doing something like that, but I use my bed a lot...it would have to be easily removable....

Chris it has two nuts and bolts holding the top bracket to the underside plate. If you would look at most spare tires, and see how they bolt in a car trunk...you can see what I mean.I took a peace of 1/4+ flat steel by 6ins.long x 1 1/2 wide...than I cut a peace of the same stock 1 1/2 ins.long, drilled a hole the size of the rod, in the center,(the rod that the wing nut goes on)than I welded that to the 6ins.plate.I used the rod from a Cherokee and wing nut.If I wanted to take the mounting plate I could...its not really in the way.I hope you under stand what I said, because I didn't under stand what the hell I said.

yea I think I understand..I turned the exit pipes on my exhaust today so I think the tire will fit back in its original position...only problem with that is the crank on it is so tight, I had to use a pipe wrench on it just to get the tire off......anyone know if these have been a problem??

Just a little side-note suggestion:

Fabtech Motorsports has a nice Bed-Mount Spare tire holder...Powder Coated BLUE or BLACK.

Chris my tire lays flat to the bed floor...with my bed cover on,it hides it (out of site out of mind)I'm not after a pre-runner look.Oil the tire crank real good with WD-40 or something like that.My bracket sticks up about 1 inch of the floor.Mine cost me about five dollars to make.Chris keep on adding the goods so you can smoke Bernd. Cris I would be careful when you say (strap) it down. You must secure it very good...if you get hit (God for bid)that could go though the cab window or act as a missile. My opinion

At the track, i've already beaten out a few of the "Big Dogs"...bracket though.

I've taken several other vehicles at the track and have also had my share of losses. It all goes with playing the game. ;)

Oops...was looking at the Typhoon (10.73 @ 123mph). It's Nick Kramers 1998 V6 Dakota - 11.26 @ 123.19mph)...7th one down from the 1/4 mile page.

Oh yeah, last time I was beat...Richard Pyburn in his 1995 5.2L. (We both hit the lights with a almost perfect reaction time...but he got me by .20 at the end.) He's part of the DML and a very good friend.
