Just recently my O.d. started acting up, It won't shift into O.D. on occasions. It's not something you can make it do, sometimes it shifts fine other times it won't shift into o.d. when it should. The fluids clean and at appropriate level. It,s a '93 dakota with 3.9L. Thanx

Sometimes if you just start the engine and take of the transmission will not shift into overdrive until the fluids in the transmission have warmed up.

To add to Jon B's post, if your truck is warmed up and it still won't shift into OD, I'd guess that one or your sensors is going bad or there is a bad connection...possibly the transmission fluid temp sensor or the coolant temp sensor. Those two play a big role in determining when or if your transmission will shift into OD.
