Subject: stock y pipe loose! WHAT??? Exaust leak IP: Logged
Message: Well i was cleanin the dodge today
and it came down to shineing up my
dual pipes. When i went to clean them
they felt loose, omost like i blew the
welds off my muffler. Well i looked under
and pulled a little more and it turns
out that its really loose and can come out at
the front of the engine before my big cat.
I think its the y-pipe but i am not sure
I think its a clamp that is on it and it
looks really warn and hard to get off.
My question is......
is this bad?
Am i loosing a lot of back pressure?
And can i just get it welded into place, or do i just need to put on a new clamp?
keep in mind the bolts on the old clamp look like toast, burnt toast
Thanks for you time
now you know thats..................

Message: I wouldnt weld that thing. If you ever have to have that y pipe changed, they wouldnt do it if it was welded. Replace the clamp, really tighten in down. Having that little air leak might be effecting your performance. If its a whole, go to a local muffler shop and get it welded shut. I Ran into the same problem with my dakota, its an 8, but i still lost power!. Hope that helps
