I've been reading the posts on here for about 8 months now, & I want to sincerely thank everyone for all the good tips/tricks for my 02 Dak QC 4.7 AWD. I was under it today, changing the oil, & I looked for the Precats I've read so much about. I don't have them. I thought that all Daks after 2000 had them from the factory. I also have a sticker on the PCM stating "Authorized Software Upgrade". Is this the deathflash?

Forgot to mention that I don't think it has the top speed limiter. I had it to 117 mph the other day with no problem. I don't know what it would have pulled to, cuz I ran out of b@lls.

Probably the PCM has been 'death flashed' and speed limiter is typicaly 118 to 120 mph.

I believe that the "deathflash" was not applicable to the 02+'s (different versions of the PCM flashes for 02).
My Dakota, pretty much the same as yours, also only has the single cat.

My '02 Dak also has the "authorized software upgrade" sticker on the pcm.

I've been looking to upgrade the performance a bit with a set of FREE 19# injectors pulled from a 93 Mustang. Will these fit & will it help any. I was gonna get the HO cams, but I'm on orders for Germany (Army). Completed mods are; homebrew intake w/K&N, tps at .78, no fan, 3923's, & soon to be 180 deg stat. pending cat back (if we take the truck with us)

"Death flash" is a generic term for a flash that lessens ignition advance - not all of the upgrade flashes do that.
