I have an old 1996 v6 3.9L LE extended cab that's
been sitting in my garage for 8 years- I'm coming to
age and I'm going to inherit it for driving. What
are some good checks and things to do before we put
a battery in it and drive it to a dealership to
repair it?

I doubt if a dealer would touch it. The Mopar
dealer closet to me won't touch a vehicle if it
has more the 150 k miles.
