I know you have the Bushwacker flairs on your truck so I figure you might know this answer. I was wondering just how much you can cut from the fenders. I know you said you were still rubbing the fenders a little. "CALLING ALL SAWSALLS!!" Just kidding. But is there still more that can be trimmed away? Thanks

There is a reason why companies like Bushwacker don’t offer cut out flares for Dakotas. Once you remove the inner wheel well liner you only gain about ¾” of space, then the floor of the cab. All I can say is “DON’T DO IT”! I saw a guy who cut the fenders and adapted a set of full size flares on his Dakota. While the rear wasn’t too bad looking, the front was a real hack job. The guy, took a big ass hammer and beat the hell out of the floor to gain another inch or so. You could see the difference in the floor from inside the cab. Because the full size flares are so much larger than the Dakota wheel wells. The back edge of the flare partially covered the front edge of the doors and the front of the flare covered the side parking lamps in the front. Looked real bad and since the Full size and Dakota have such different bodylines, there were gaps between the flare and the body which the guy had filled with black silicon caulk. If you stood in front of the truck, there was about a 4 square inch hole on the inside of the flare where it stuck out past the parking lamps. When I first walked up to the truck, I did so from the rear. With exception to a piece of tar paper he used as an inner liner, the rear didn’t look too bad and I thought to my self, “I got to do this”. Then I got a good look at the front and immediately changed my mind.
