one word comes to mind first "FUSE" your owners manual has a diagram to show you where to look, no owners manual, go to your local library and ask the librarian for books on auto repair, they will have the info you need.

The first thing to check is the blower motor resistor, which goes out way more often than the blower motor itself and is a lot easier to check and change. On the earlier models, it's on the passenger side of the firewall, it's a plastic looking thing with a plug containing several wires plugged into it. Take off the plug, pull two screws, and it will come right out. I'd bet that one of the coiled 'resistor' wires on the inside are burned in half. I had the exact same problem, ten minutes and a soldering iron had it working again for zero cost. You can get the resistor at the dealer, and maybe at some auto parts stores. I'm not sure on the location on later model trucks, but I think it may be on the passenger side bottom of the heater housing, inside the truck cab.

Sir:
Thank you for the information, I found the blower motor resistor in the dakota quite easily, and can see it's burned out.

Do you know where the blower motor resistor is located in the 04 Caravan?

Not sure, but i know in a 98 voyager its on the passenger side of the firewall. That's a lot older than your caravan. I have a friend that works at a dealership. I'll post back tommorrow. Type at ya then.........

I went to the dealership and bought the parts, 10 for dakota, 15 for caravan, they showed me where it is on the caravan...You just open the glove box, push in on the sides of the glove box and it flips down, showing the inside of the firewall, and there sits the blower motor resistor. And in both cases, problem solved...

Thank you Mr. RaZoR1 for the info...Per vehicle, they would have charged 65 to diagnose, and 65 plus parts for an hour of work, even though I changed out both vehicles in less than 30 minutes.

Mikey, if your A/C is low on R134a fluid, it will cause the coil to freeze. This will melt and water will accumulate under the passenger side carpet. Also, when it's severely frozen, your blower will seem like it's not blowing very hard.
You may already know this but:
Go to you auto parts store and buy the fluid, hose, and guage. With motor running, turn on A/C to "Max" and fan on highest setting. Attach hose to LOW side inlet (larger hose connected to the compressor) and fill until gauge says it's full. Do not overfill.

Thanks Hollis. We finally got the heater fixed, now the brake line on the passenger side busted. They discontinued making them. So Paul put a four wheel drive hose on it. Whatevers clever. At least we have breaks. Thanks, Melissa
