ive got 250,000 miles on my dakota v6 and transmission still running smooth and strong...ive been flushing my trans fluid since 50,000 miles every 25,000 miles i drained 4 quarts and also ive used lucas transmission treatment. I also have a oldsmobile 88 that ive done the same to and it has 205,000 on it and transmission running really good for the high milage. I think the lucas has been a good factor in this.

You can buy the solenoids and pressure sensor off ebay cheaper then anywhere. They are actually very easy to replace too. Get the kit that comes with the wiring harness. You wont use the harness but there are solenoids attached to the harness and thats the only way ive found that they sell them. Just make sure you get the parts for the correct year of your dodge and use ONLY ATF+4 FLUID. I did this on my 42RE and it cured my shifting problems.

Why is this 4 speed automatic set up to shift
into 4th at 38 MPH? Most of the roads where
we live are 35MPH. Is there an adjustment
to change shift points?

I have a 93 3.9 4X4 that needs a new transmission bc the old
one is completely shot. My question is what transmission
should I put in? Cheap and good if possible.
I also have a Jeep so I know most the time this isn't possible.
Also what is the transmission in it stock does anybody know?

if you got a v6 automatic then you probably have a 500 transmition you can buy one at pullapart for 50 dollars and put it in yourself it is perty easy it takes about 6 hrs thoe note:the tranny mounts dont loose the screws be careful with the drive shaft yoke, use a screw driver when turning back the fly wheel to un-bolt it from youre tork converter you want to jack your tranny down and pull it out from under your truck and back in the same way if you cant get the front on roll off try one of those old stand off jacks on the front bumper use jack stands as a last resort only if the engine is messed up id do it different but if it is just the tranny ive found it easier to do it this way

ift is messed up only after youre tranny warms up then the problem is probably youre trans-cooler it aint an expensive part make shure you get the same kind that came off your truck "the transcooler is the device that cools the transmition keeps it from overheating
