In the older days alot of engine parts were interchangable, including bottom ends. Now someone referred to LA engines as not being interchanable, this may be so. The person in the original post was referring to an A engine as noted in his pre-70s remark.

Not starting a piss trail here, just thought I help clear up that argument.

Different strokes for differnt folks! Stroker motors are cool!

Crank position sensor
IP: Logged

Message:
My transmission went out on my 93 Dakota V8 Mag. I found a wrecked 93 Dakota V6 Mag and had someone put the trans from this trk into my trk. The mech cut the Crank position Sensor wires and the trk would not start. After replacing the CPS, I bought one for a V8, the trk started. But it runs very bad and skips and eventually dies out. Do I need to get a CPS for a V6 or change something in the wiring?

how come you didnt just get the right transmission? eventualy the v8 will screw up the transmission you put in and then youll be back to were u started. it should do fine if you dont run the hell out of it, but other than that goodluck. try the v6 cps if u can find one cheap but i dont think itl even fit the v8 but alot of parts were interchangable between the 2 motors.

I just bought a used 97 dakota 127000 miles,it was stalling until warm after startup.I replaced the original plugs with the bosch platinum no gap adjustments needed. It's purring like a kitten now.Would it be worth while to put a ram air intake system on it,or would I be pissin in the wind?

Is it possible to swap the intake manifold from the pre-mag over to the magnum V6?

I guess most of you never heard of Megasquirt. If you don't mind tuning fuel and ignition timing maps, it would dramatically reduce the amount of wiring you would have to do for a full magnum V6 swap.

I know they're difference in regards to the combustion chambers and maybe the port shape, but as long as the manifold mounting studs are in the same position and the intake ports are in the same location as the pre-mag engine. As far as I know, the block pretty much remained unchanged when the Magnum heads were added, so fitment shouldn't be too problematic.

I have the Mopar engine build book, which includes a detailed description of each engine and the difference between each generation. I'll read it over and see what it has to say.
