Bob.. what are you trying to prove?

Out at the nationals you seemed like a great guy, and now we are back to this..

I really didnt even want to answer this post, that is why I emailed you, but I thought Id clear it up for anyone who cares..

I do have a 1" block, and its fine

There are not that many people who have hotchkis, and even less who have hotchkis and a 1" block. There are even less with a 275/35/20 and a 1" block.. People who do have those suspensions will be low.. but they are already LOW.. and already have to be careful. You dont go over potholes doing 50mph to avoid bending a rim, so if you have to go from a flat surface to an large incline, just go slow and if needed take it at an angle..

Anyway, you have mail..

Jonas

Jonas, I'm not out to "prove" anything. My responses are quite obvious as to what they are and that is constructive criticism of a new product based on my personal experiences with a similar product. From the tone here and in your private email, you appear to be stuck on the idea that I am somehow out to get you. I explained myself quite clearly a couple of months ago. You might want to go back and reread that email.

I would prefer that people be educated consumers and not fall for simple fluff and hype, both of which are prevalent in this and other Dakota related forums. No one is saying "do not buy Jonas' stuff" as the tone of your emails would suggest. Read my post yesterday, I said it's not a deal killer. Read further up the thread where someone asked about another brand of rollpan and I suggested they take their business to you.

Sound like someone out to screw you? You notice I don't post to the 4.7L topics. Why is that? Because I don't have any personal experience or insight to offer. Here I do. I also suggest you go back up the thread to 1/12/2002. Your exact statement on that date, "So opinions anyone? Like it, Hate it? Think its ok? Think it sucks????" But today you don't want to hear it? You also had lowdak posting immediately after that saying he wouldn’t buy it for the same issues I’m bringing up. Guess I’m not the only one suggesting caution, huh?

If you want to put your personal issues with me aside for a moment and clear up the REAL topic at hand, then go out and take a flat surface ground to tailpipe measurement on your truck. One of the inclines that I had trouble with on my previous truck is right outside my office. It looks very innocent, but in real world driving it's not. I can take my R/T out, back it up to the incline and shoot a pile of pictures to post to settle this. I'll use a tape measure to illustrate my concerns. My R/T is not nearly as low as my previous Dakota and the R/T has 29" dia tires on it just like yours. But, as you pointed out, the majority of the buying public don't own Hotchkis lowered R/Ts. You're right, it’s not a majority. But a significant number of Dakota owners have Ground Force, DJM, Western and any possible combo of lowering hardware equipped vehicles. Doesn't matter how it was done. The issue is simply this, if you have a lowered truck, then do your homework to make sure you won't have a scraping problem before buying this exhaust. THAT IS ALL! If you have a stock height truck there is no concern. Even if you have a lowered truck, there may not be a concern. But it's a damn sight more responsible to make sure BEFORE you drag your nice new stainless tips across the pavement because the repair costs will be substantial.

As I have told you multiple times, if this is a personal issue you have with me, I've given you my cell number more than once. If you want to drag the RTML dirty laundry into the public Forum, that's your deal. We can start a new thread on the 20s if you like or the rear disc brake deal. But you’ll need to bring a little more to the table this time than, “I spoke to people who must remain unnamed”. I'd prefer not to waste the time myself. You _seem_ to have a problem with anyone who offers comments or facts that counter your own ideas and that usually suggests someone is afraid of something or has something to hide. Which would it be in this case?

Bob, Ill tell you what.. I dotn have anything to hide, and I dont have a problem with anyone. I do like constructive critizism, but yours is just critizism, and really thats all you ever do.. for some reason you think you are the "dakota parts critic of the internet".. seriously.. get a life.. I asked for opinions BACK IN DECEMBER when it was in prototype.. and we did change a few things. Now your whole soapbox about lowed trucks si just non-sense.. why dont you go tell instruct people about how they can blow up their engine if they use nitrous incorrectly?? Its the same thing, if you buy ANY product, and use it, you have to be careful about the consequences it may bring. The GTS system is not much diffrent then anyone who puts on another rollpan and then puts dual exhaust under it (a commom practice that has been done for YEARS!).

BUT .. to make you happy.

NOTICE:

Anyone buying the GTS rollpan and exhaust combo.

If you install this combo, and your truck is extremely lowered, and you drive from a flat surface onto a highly inclined surface, it may cause scraping on the bottom of your exhaust tips. However the tips are T-304 stainless, so if by chance you run into these conditions, and you are extremely concerned about the underside of your exhaust tips (that since you are SO lowered, one would have to use a mirror to see under), they can be buffed and polished out with a simple progression of sand paper.
If you happen to take the incline transition at a high rate of speed (or really just dont know how to drive very well), then we can sell you replacements tips at a very reasonable and affordable cost (not substantial).

Jonas, word of advice; don't waste your time trying to make me happy. I was done and over with this long ago. Only reason I even pay attention is the thread drops a notice in my email automatically.

My concern can be summed up in one short phrase. Do your homework and be cautious. Nowhere and at no time did I say do not buy the product, so please get over whatever sniveling problem you have with me.

I have sent my phone number to you multiple times and I most recently suggested you send me the height measurement and I would spend MY time measuring, photographing and posted pics to settle the issue once and for all. You spend 2 minutes getting a measurement and I'll spend 1/2 hour with the rest. You can't seem to handle that and would prefer to whine. Whatever, Bud. I'm done with the thread. Post any further character asassinations you feel necessary without worries of a response.

2 weeks to develop that response? What a waste of energy.

Bob, in that case, since you say your done.. Ill accept the final word, and make a reply.

Two-weeks? -Yep.. ive been out of town and have alot more to do then worry about your responses.

Ill post pictures asap, and Ill get you measurements.

I have however already taken the truck out with the hotchkis, and with the hotchkis and a 1" block and at no time did I rub the tips, I hit inclines, slopes, bumps, etc.. Granted, I didnt not take 45 degree inclines at a direct shot doing 35 mph.. but like Ive said, as with any aftermarket part you have to be aware and be careful. I can design and build around every possible situation that may occur for every dakota.. its not possible. You dont go offroading with your hotchkis.. AND Ill bet you anything that you MAKE SURE you stay away from potholes with your new rims.. where as if you had 15" rims, and some big beefy tires you probally wouldnt think anything of the potholes..

anyway.. believe it or not bob, I dont like to argue.. so im done as well..

Hopefully, if it stops raining Ill have some pics up today!
