Zach,

That's a straight axle swap. It involves a lot of cutting and welding and there is no kit for that. You're basically cutting off the entire front suspension and building a new one from scratch. Need to have some decent fabrication and mechanical skills, or enough cash to pay someone who has the skills. Not a DIY project for most.

you can get a little mor lift with re indexed keys but the big andvantage is not stiffing your ride which will happen if you just crank the stock ones.

mario - I doubt that. Can you explain how a reindexed key could raise the height without adding more stiffness ?

Okay, maybe I shouldn't have put you on the spot like that. Seems like you're trying to help, but maybe passing on some misinformation from, let me guess, maybe Chevy buddies ? We don't usually need the keys for our mopars, can usually get close to 2" lift the way they are set up stock. And that can put you close to the bump stops, so more through indexing may not help. Now the way that reindexing torsion bars works, is it simply gives a way to put more twist on the bar. And twist on the bar is what gives the ride height. So the bars will stil have the same amount of twist with the corresponding stiffness whether a reindexed key is used or not, for a given rise in suspension height. We get that bogus claim that that it's not as stiff with new keys every now and then, and I like to set the record straight when I see misinformation. But you seem to be one of the good guys here - so now it's your turn to go embarrass your buddies who set you up with the bogus info.

Kowalski,

my goal was to get 3" of total lift i wanted to get the reindexed keys that say 2" to 3" inches of lift, and 3" blocks in the rear. so are you saying its impossible, and if not what needs to be done to make it doable? or should i try it and if not return it?

Well, for free you could start by cranking up your torsion bars without reindexing, and see where you are in relation to the bump stops. Most of us got close to 2" that way, and it won't cost you anything to find out. Maybe you'll be able to get more ? If you don't have air tools, you'll find it easier to crank the bars up with the weight of the front end supported by a jack. I'd try the free way before buying keys. If it looks like you could go higher with the bolts maxed out, then you could buy the keys if needed - let us know how you make out. Some guys count turns of the bolt from side to side; but I recomend measuring the height change - that's how a front end guy would do it. Not all bars are exactly equal.

alright thats exactly what i was going to do cause the blocks i can buy anywhere so i was going to crank the stock bars see what i come up with and then buy blocks to make it level but we will see and i will definatly tell you how it goes.

This is a fairly recent thread, so I thought I'd reply and post my experiences today. I have a 2000 4WD Crew Cab. I had been looking for 31s but got a killer deal on a set of like-new 32x11.5 BFG AT KOs with some nice custom wheels so I went ahead and got them.
When I put them on the front tires rubbed when turning on the little piece of plastic that hangs below the bumper. Based on some posts here I first tried the torsion bar approach and put about 1 1/2 full turns on each bolt. Nothing really obvious was happening, maybe 1/2" of lift. It might have gone further, but I decided to not risk breaking anything since I need to use the truck this week. So I took my chop saw and cut a V shaped piece about 1/2" wide at the bottom and tapering upwards out of the plastic. Problem solved and it really isn't very noticeable at all. This is a work truck and it has some other dings and dents, so this approach probably won't work for everyone but it did for me!

I currently manage a auto repair shop, and I also ran an accessory shop where we lifted trucks. I also have a 04 Dakota club cab. The only difference in stock keys and after market is the way it sits on the bar. They look identical, they just put the key closer to the bolt so you get more of a lift when you tighten the bolt. What I have found out is the bolts on the truck are different lengths. I got 2.5inches of lift when I tightened mine. If your bolts are not that long, either buy new bolts or new keys for lift. IT DOESN'T effect the suspension. The only way it will is if the shock on the truck is topped out. Telling people it does is just a way to sell the product. IF people knew they could tighten those bolts for free, nobody would buy the keys. MAKE SURE YOU DO AN ALIGNMENT WHEN EVER YOU MESS WITH RIDE HEIGHT.

to be honest i dont think their is an actual measurement its one of those things you decide with your descretion. if you want flex then stay away from them if you only drive on the road then you can go closer as i said it all depends on you and what your gonna do with it.
