Subject: Lift Kit for a 2000 Dakota Sport

Message:
I was told that nobody makes a lift for a 2000 4x4 Dakota Sport because of the racket-pinion steering on them. Is this true?

No. There are a couple of manufactureres, but so far, neither have produced anything of quality.

TruckinSuspension.com and Whiplash Suspensions are the 2.

The concensus is to wait for Rancho.

I called Rancho a few months ago inquiring about a lift kit for my 2000 Dakota Sport 4x4. I already knew that there wasn't any available because in 2000 they changed the front end to a rack n' pinion so I didn't know what kind of answer I'd get. According to them they were in the process of designing one for the 2002 Ram which has the same front end. After they design that they would see if it'd be cost effective to scale it down to fit the Dakota. My personal opinion is that this truck is one of the best selling mid-sized pick up trucks on the market so why don't other manufacturers tap into customers like us and freakin' design a quality lift?!?!?!

Can someone please name another "mid-size" truck?

Please don`t say Tundra , that`s considered a full size truck.

the last two guys that came on here braggin about getting the truckin suspension lift after Knobby and everyone else warned them haven't posted on this site since...last we heard was "I get my truck back tomorrow" and then nothing...coincidence?

I hope everything turns out ok chad but I seriously have my doubts with all the info that I've heard and the poor customer service I've seen posted on this site from them. Good luck.

Hey Chad,

Good luck on the lift, lots of naughty things have been said about truckin, but i hope for your sake things go well. Do yourself a favor and test the truck a little in 4HI and 4LO right after you pick it up to make sure everything is in correct. Do me a favor and post what you paid for the lift and installation and initial thoughts on your lifts performance. Also post as many pictures of the lift kit itself along with pics of the truck.
Thanks...and good wheeling!
Arthur

My truck is done and it is a rougher ride when before but not to much rougher. The aligment is off a little becuase it pulls a little to the right but I think that can be fixed. They had to shave some to fit the 34" tires on there but it was not much. It looks nice but no pics yet becuase it rained today.
