Subject: The Race Home!!!!
IP: Logged

Message:
Last night my brother and i and a bunch of our friends went out to eat at the Boardwalk in Bossier City, La. It was about 11:00pm when my brother left and started our trip home.

Me, in my 99 dak R/T, and my brother in the 95 Z28, we headed home. not much happened at first but when we hit I-20 it was on like a chicken bone. we an average speed over 90mph the whole way home it was a blast!!! peaking at a 115mph this was like a 15 mile race.lol although with a few more mods his Z28 is just a little faster, i definitley had plently of jumps on him.

i know this probably wasnt very safe i would do it again in a heart beat. i am just suprised we havent gotten a ticket yet. since everytime we are together we do this, and now i hope my dad doesnt read this post!!! anyone else have similiar story????

I'd tell one but the only buddy of mine that will race me has a '98 Z28 and I dont stand a chance. My other buddy has a '97 Ram 318 but after I smoked him in my '91 Nissan he wont even try anymore. Now I have a '00 CC Sport 4x4 on 32's. If I could get that thing running the 1/4 in the high 13's low 14's I'd have some amusing stories. Especially when I decide to lift it again and go a little bigger with my tires.

Yeah i do...

but my brother has my old v6 dakota and i have a superchared 5.2l 4x4. He's got all the old mods that made that v6 fly, CIA,Superchips,75 dryshot,glaspack,v8tb,iat etc...

We eat out weekly with our dad and race home down a 5 mile one way dual lane road with no one on it. It sure is fun, we will start side by side at diff mph and one will punch and the other will try to catch up.

Some times we top out well over 120 when i decide that my 33x12.5 are due to explode at any time. It sure is fun and i do miss that old v6 just glad to keep it in the fam...

We he gets the jump on it we run almost side by side and some times one will pull on the other.
But keep in mind my stock block is shot with bad rings etc...

the other night, my buddy pulled up next to me in his '00 taco 4banger at a red light. just to mess with him i revved it up and he did also. right before the light turned green my phone rings and i missed the light. i punched it for a second and let off just to let him get a big head thinkin that he beat me. like a 4banger tacoma could beat my dak. haha. well last night i was following him down some back roads and we came to a stopsign with a long straight away after it. i was behind him and he punched it. so of coarse i did to. i was on his a$$ in a second and before he knew it, i had passed him and was way ahead of him and he was still tryin to get on it. we stopped at a gas station and he said that he thought that he could beat me cause he did the other night. he was pissed when i told him that i was just playin with him the whole time.

i race my friends silverado 5.3 cc with my 318. off the light i spun and still killed him by the time we got through the intersection. he was so pissed that i beat him. but his truck is a .10 of a sec slower down the 1/4. the torque curve on the 318 and 360 is about flat all the way up to 3600 rpm. the Chevy has no lower end grunt.

With a few mods on my 3.9L I figured I'd give racing it a shot against two different cars. First I raced a S-10 4.3L to 60mph. I watched him spin his tires and get off the line and then I decided to go. It wasn't even a challenge. Hit 45mph and had him beat, even with him getting a head start.
I also raced a Dodge Neon R/T to 60mph. I gave them 2 car lengths at the start and we ended up neck and neck at the end, though I'm pretty sure I won.

I once had a slightly modified Ford Probe I-4, I was at an intersection when a black Dakota R/T 5.9 with a supercharger pulled up. He was revving his loud ass waste of cash the whole red light, when we went it was the funniest and one of the funnest races I've ever had. The truck was intimidating, but ultimately too slow in any range to beat my lowly slightly modified Probe. We raced again at the next light and I still came up 3 car lengths ahead by 50mph and 2x that at 80mph. Please, quit hurting yourself thinking that a Dakota could possibly be a force on the road. Maybe against a Pinto, or an Escort.

Dude your an idiot, What did your anal probe run in the quarter? I read your post about your mods and your probe is weak. If you think your probe could beat a S/C 5.2L/5.9L with the mods you claimed before, you must be smoking somthing good, man pass that shiat over here.

i am definitely with mike on this one. there is not way that your slightly modified or even a heavily modified probe beat a supercharged R/T. you must have been dreaming when that about that race because for sure didnt happen. my slightly modified R/T will smoke yours or anyone elses slightly modified probe. i KNOW from experience!!

toolfan-
The roller rockers were well worth the money (even though I didn't pay for them). The Harland Sharp 1.7s gave me about 5 HP and 20 TQ. The roller rockers are part of my senior project--see the thread in the V6 board called "help with my senior project"--so those are actual Dyno numbers on a 3.9L. Gas mileage went up slightly too.

The install took about 2.5 hours to do. It really is pretty simple. Remove airbox, remove valve covers, remove old rocker arms (one bolt on each), install new roller rocker with provided hardware, and put everything back together. Its a breeze, even for a beginner--even easier with air tools! They are non-adjustable, so just bolt 'em up. The Harland Sharp 1.7s are only $220 plus shipping. Check out their website to order. The roller rockers come with the bolts and stuff you need to install them--don't think you need to reuse any of the old hardware. Make sure your valve cover gasket is ok to reuse or you might want to get a new one before re-installing everything. Keep me posted on what you decide to do.
