You could always move to Maryland, where the use of Turn Signals are optional.

I'm having a similar issue with my 03. Right now none of my turn signals work, my hazards do not work and my brake lights don't work as well. Are all of these driven off of the flasher unit? I checked for blown bulbs and found that both front turn signals were blown and the third brake light bulb was blown. I replaced those all as well as the rest of my brake lights to be safe, but still nothing works. I've checked the fuses and they are fine.
Any suggestions?

I stopped at a local auto-repair shop and explained the problem... they showed me the flasher (a relay in the fuse box, about 1" square at the bottom left) and I replaced it.
You should at least give this a try... hope it works for you,

I have a 1999 Dodge Dakota 2WD 6 cylinder engine. I recently started to have issues with the turn signals. When I put them on either left or right they will blink for a short time and than freeze. The emergency flashers work and do not freeze up. Is it something in the steering column or is it the flasher module in the fuse box area?

Ray Thys...

Sounds like you and I have the same model truck with the same problem. I changed the flasher and it worked. I would try that.

I've replaced the flasher unit. It works so far but it seems to have a problem when it warms up. It so damn cold right now where I live I will have to wait until April to know whether it worked. Thanks for the tip.

I realize it's not exactly the same problem, but,

My turn signals and radio (yep, only those two together) often don't work when I start my truck for 2-3 years now.

On my 01 QC dak (manual tranny), I just wiggle the key a little, and 'viola, the radio and turn signals work again, usually for the rest of the trip.

Her in TX, we have to get a vehicle inspection once a year, I take it to the same place, and ask him to wiggle the key so the turn signals will work, and he passes it-thankfully.

I just brought it up 'cause maybe others are having this same sort of issue with their lights and electrical.

I switched the flasher control box out and the signals are working but I don't know whether it is fixed for sure because it started to have a problem when it got warmed up. It is cold where I live so I should know by May if your suggestion was corret. Thanks for your help.

I have an '01 quad cab with just over 200k miles on it. My problem is that the right turn signal blinks very fast. Hazards work fine and left turn signal works fine.

From scanning this forum and others, I can't tell if I need to replace something in the steering column or a blinker relay.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thx, Scott

Possibly neither. Check the bulbs on the right side.

I had a brain fart when I posted my first post above - my right
blinker works perfectly, it's the left one that blinks double-time.

I checked the bulbs weeks ago - they are all fine. It has to be an
electrical component.

Unless someone can offer different advice I guess I'll be trying
the relay first and then the component in the steering column.

Thx, Scott

Just for the record this is stupid. Picking on a person is one thing, adding his son is another.

Turn signal problem
IP: Logged

Message:
1999 Dakota SLT, I recently replaced my headlights and put all new bulbs in...Once I got everything reassembled, the inner left turn signal (closest to the grill) no longer works, making my left turn signal flash rapidly...(the outer turn signal flashes rapidly), Right side works perfectly fine...However, the parking light does work, just not the turn signal to that light. Every light has all new bulbs and I don't believe its the socket itself, since its obviously getting power....could it be a relay switch? Any help would be great! TY

Thats the thing, at first I thought it was a bad bulb and i put another one in and the same thing happened...i'm debating whether or not to go to a scrap yard to get another socket and just pop it in there, looked everywhere, including the internet and cant find them on there...And the weird thing is this started after I replaced the headlights. Everything worked fine prior to that
