Subject: Front Hub Bearing
IP: Logged

Message:
I have 66K miles on my '99 4WD ExtdCab SLT and I find out today that I need a new Right Front Hub Bearing. So I go to the dealer to find out How Much?....$267.52!!just for the part!!! (Mopar #52069361AB) They tell me its a sealed bearing assembly that HAS to be replaced as an entire unit(bearings, spline, hub, & studs).

Does anybody out there know of an alternative source for this Hub Assembly that won't break the bank???????
...OR another way to rebuild it with a set of $30 sealed bearings????

Or am I stuck putting off buying that new trolling motor?

Your dealer is right. It is a unit that needs to be repalced as a whole. Try some aftermarket stores like Pep boys or autozone. People on these forums have recommended Moogs.

There is no aftermarket replacement part available for this hub. I have the 4WD front hub (wheel bearing assembly) available [Mopar 52069361AB] from when I ordered one for my 2WD 99 Dakota Sport and they brought me the wrong one. If anyone wants it, I'll let it go for $220 plus shipping (roughly $15 in the lower 48 US States).
Let me know,

Oh yeah, I sell lots of OEM and aftermarket parts for most import and domestic cars, so feel free to give me a call or email me.

Not true, they are avaiable. If you don't have front ABS, you can get them from Bumper to Bumper for ~$140. I just did both sides of my truck about a month ago.

Damn, I just did mine too and no one told me about an aftermarket one. I called 3 different shops for aftermarket estimates before I called the dealer. =(
Oh well, if anyone does want a genuine Mopar 4WD front hub, I'll let it go for $220...
The P/N is 52069361AB....

Where is this Bumper to Bumper? Do they have a website or are they a local chain?

I am still searching for a better deal for my 2000 Quad with the same problem. Did any of you stop to think about why these bearings are going out at a mere 70k miles?

Mine was $175 at the dealer and I was told that was high for most dealers. If yours is $267 than I would check with other dealers in your area. As for why they go out often, there's plenty of threads on here explaining why but my theory is that the rotors don't hold up long on these trucks. So when the rotor gets warped or out of round with the calipers it creates occilations in the hub unit and destroys the hub. Just my .02.

Wouldn't want any other!

TO each their own I guess. I bought the bearings alone for Adavance, took the hub to my local NAPA, they pressed out the old bearring and pressed in the new. Both sides done under $100.

Try this source for hub/bearing assmbly on 2000 Dodge Dakota. $154.00 non ABS
BCA 515032 Part Number.

Am interested in just buying and replacing just the bearings. Do notice that wheels get hot when braking. Does this melt grease and cause bearing failure?

Can you change the old bearings yourself and put the new ones in yourself? Where can I go to get them to do this for me. I really don't feel like paying $200 for bearings
